Many LeJog’s seem to be in aid of a particular charity though i don’t have anything specific in mind, (so many worthy causes) i do have reason to favour help for the partialy sighted and guide dogs for the blind. If you feel like dropping a few coins in the next RNLI (royal national lifeboat institution) box you see that would be pleasing as they sure are good people. Animal rescue centres i find heart warming and will visit those along my path that i can. I must also add Cancer research to the list, (so many inspiring people).
I’m thinking of having a sticker on my pack saying “Feed the hungry donations accepted”, i’ll be quite happy to share my food with any down on their luck i meet along the way, further i see from tv that food banks are appearing outside supermarkets for those who are short on food, it would be entirely easy to take advantage of the two for one offers in these stores and leave half as a donation to distribution groups (often the Salvation army). Any of us could be pleased to stumble upon a soup kitchen at some time.
The posts are slightly different format now compared with the initial ones as i am practising using email to send posts which seems the quickest/simplest way of working when on LeJog and using internet cafe’s, so if anyone wishes to contact me (during LeJog) they will probably get noticed quicker at the email adress. Lejogpost@googlemail.com. Other wise using the leave a comment on any posts should work .
This is only used for blog posts, no adverts or time wasters please. (e.g. i don’t need a conservatory).
Rowardennan has a very good youth hostel but the one at Baldersdale appears to be only available now for group visits – I may be wrong but I have tried to book a few days without success.
Thank’s for the tip Mike, in the new year i will get updated details from YHA and hopefully my list will be correct. Never the less i imagine always phone a day ahead if possible as many people seem to have experienced accomodation that isn’t available on arrival.
Hi John,
I’m another mad fool planning to start the end to end in april, have read your blog with interest and have now created my own blog at the above address, i have added the address of you blog into my usefull links section in my blog. as a bit of cross feeding between blogs could be good for both of our charitys would you be so kind as to add a link to my blog from yours?
My charity will be for autism tho i have yet to sort out my designated charity.
I have sent a similar message to Steve at “END to end in 2010″ Who is also starting at the begining of april, you may want to add a link to his site too.
Thanks in advance!
Andy Green
Hi Andy, and thank’s for the contact, from your blog it would appear that you have done many walks of some distance highlighting my inexperience, anyway i’m more than happy to put a link to your blog on my links page and more importantly would be very happy to meet you and your compainion enroute.
(at the moment editing my links page seems to have resulted in it displaying blank so a problem to sort (scratches head), if need be i will recreate the whole page (darn peculier these computer things).
Hi John
I am setting off 22nd May from JOG and walking to St Albans, but not camping!!
Thanks for all your tips here which i have been closely reviewing. i dont think i am quite as organised as you (yet!) but need to get sorted with my maps!
I was hoping that by mostly following roads and footpaths and signs to my next destination that it would seem obvious but maybe a little more planning and printing of A4 pages will help!
If you were able to add a link to my Blog it would be great to get some traffic my way.
I will endeavour to post my Blog daily but havent done one previously so as a newbie, i will be learning as i go!
Maybe our paths will cross and if not, i am sure we will tread some common routes at some point!
I wish you continued good luck and great weather!
Caroline
