cloudy sun occasional
early breakfast in Chester, train to Bangor, some navigation errors had me talking to locals and finally found menai bridge to Anglesey.
A day of great paths occasional mud, plenty of tea shops.
Beaumaris another good castle, at Penmon there are old priory shell of building and large stone dovecote, this must have been quite a community in the past.
for dove cotes i think this is the largest i have seen.
A few more miles of coast brings me Trywn it’s close to puffin island and there is a rather pretty light house. which had a mono tone bell that did a single chime every couple of seconds, no doubt so fishermen knew it was there if foggy and the light could not be seen.
if anything the path is better towards Bwrdd arthur passing old windmill which has no sails anymore, then descend to beach for walk around the bay. This is a long curving bay with much sand and mud flats, a very nice lady with a little tea cabin near the start gave interesting chat about the area and also mentioned that it is possible to walk along the beach but the path is actually just above the high tide line and is navigable at all times, and yes this is good, muddy in parts but good most of the way with occasional board walks.
Making great progress as usual JP ! Bringing back all the joys of the trail can’t wait to start my own! 🙂
