Haze clearing early to hot sunshine.
when i walked through Kidwelly the garage shop was open but no coffee machine.
On way out of village passed over old rail track that is still in position but partially under water.
Short stretch alongside main road then turn right under low rail bridge and onto embankment,
certainly had to duck under this one, immediately the other side was an old war time defence (pill box) where i took of the pack for a rest and just sit and stare for a while. what a glorious view, the trail is initially on a raised embankment, moving along around quiet air field and motor sports centre the trail drops down onto the old airfield perimeter track and at the far end goes into Pembry forest, here again the trail is skirting a military area, the forest was large, trail easy to navigate as its also a cycle path saw nobody just wild life until near the far end.
Now its walk over Pembry burrows and alongside the dunes into Burry port, what a lovely place complete with tiny light house, the cafe was excellent (a really good breakfast) and i enjoyed walking around the little harbour.
Also pass a memorial plaque of a plane landing here having made the first solo atlantic crossing.
The day just went on and on with pleasant coast walking and rests in the shade as the temperature was getting wearing.
At Llanelli visitor centre i found a large orange juice helped as the trail moved into the millennium park for lakes and associated wildlife, it does get near a noisy road beside the steel works but this is brief and returns to quiet woodland soon enough.
Finlay have to meet main road to cross to Loughor and veer away towards Gowerton and near the end a real nice surprise was meeting a lady with a dog coming the other way who is doing the whole coast (that’s one in nearly 700 miles), im hoping she will post her blog details so i can read her story.
